WEB GEMS- Top 7th: Fats Jenkins robbed Joe Boley of an extra base hit.
Right fielder Harry Rice hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Bright Health Park as
the Minnesota Loons came back dramatically to top the Colorado 14ers by the
score of 7 to 6.
Minnesota came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 3
base hits. After an out was recorded, Dick Burrus jump-started the rally as
he doubled. Cool Papa Bell followed next and he lashed a single. Bell took
second on a stolen base. Joe Boley followed and he doubled knocking home two
runners. A wild affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
Dazzy Vance(6-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 6
runs. Vance got help from Watty Clark who earned his 6th save. Ike
Powers(0-1) was the loser in relief.
'Chris Kaufman was estatic following the game, 'You love stealing one on the
road like this. We just kept plugging away until we pulled it out!'
