TEAM RISP- Feat: 3 for 12 Jackals: 3 for 8
In a dramatic ending, the New Jersey Jackals staged a comeback win over the
The Little Feat by the count of 6 to 5.
New Jersey scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3
runs. After an out was recorded, Rod Carew got things rolling when he drew a
walk. Bud Harrelson followed next and he drew a walk. Jeff Burroughs then
doubled, and an error was also committed, resulting in an exciting win for
New Jersey and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. New
Jersey banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.
The win was credited to Bob Apodaca(1-0) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.
Pedro Borbon(2-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
New Jersey's manager was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard
fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did
you see the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this
afternoon!'
