Right fielder Bruce Bochte slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI and Bert Blyleven
carried a no-hitter into the 7th inning at Double Wide Park as the Galifrey
Time Lords beat the Zygton Zabra by the count of 7 to 1.
Blyleven(4-2) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Zygton batters. He gave up just 3 hits and no walks in 9 innings lowering
his ERA to 1.95. The right-handed Blyleven lost a no-hitter when Rick Monday
singled with nobody out in the 7th inning. Galifrey finished with 12 hits in
the victory.
The loss was charged to Dick Tidrow(3-3). He allowed Galifrey 7 runs in 5 and
1/3 innings of work. Zygton's manager lamented, 'Blyleven was really
aggressive today. He kept coming after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept
sitting our guys down one after another - like so many bowling pins!'
