separated the combatants at game's end. The Seattle Pilots won by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Seattle had 2 runs cross the plate in the 5th inning. The crucial at-bat was
provided by Tony Perez who deflated the crowd as he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run. Hibbing made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable
to push the needed runs across.
Dave Freisleben(2-1) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Freisleben
got help from Mike Marshall who earned his 4th save. Ken Brett(0-4) was the
loser. He gave up 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 innings.
