Ty Cobb had 5 hits and 3 RBI and Phil Cockrell shut down the Bristol batters
on just 2 hits as the Sterling Silver Sluggers smashed the overmatched
Bristol Blasters, 10 to 0.
Cobb enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He doubled in the 1st inning, delivered
a single bringing in a run in the 3rd inning, stroked a one-base hit in the
5th inning, doubled in the 7th inning and tripled bringing home two
baserunners in the 8th inning. Sterling simply wore out the Bristol pitching
staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
Cockrell(4-2) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Connie
Rector(0-5) was hit with the loss. 'We didn't have a whole lot of chances
today,' Steve Sustakowski said. 'Cockrell just was too much for our guys.'
