Third baseman Freddie Lindstrom had 3 base hits as the Iowa MoonlightGraham
won at The Cornfield in dramatic fashion over the Sterling Silver Sluggers,
the final score, 2 to 1.
Iowa scored the deciding run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Lindstrom
tripled. Johnny Gooch stepped up next and he delivered a single making Iowa
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Iowa had only 6 hits
for the game.
Howard Ehmke(2-1) went 2 innings allowing 1 run for the win. The loss was
charged to John Williams(0-1) in relief. He pitched 1 inning and surrendered
1 hit and no walks.
When questioned, Craig White remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt
this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'
