In an entertaining game at Wrigley Field the final score was the Hibbing
Dylans 6, the Cincinatti Royalty 3 in 11 innings.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Hibbing won the game in
the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Billy Moran got things going
when he delivered a single. Don Demeter came to the plate and lined a
base-hit. Gene Green then drew a walk to load the bases. Tommy Davis
followed next and he banged out a single driving home two runs. Dick Groat
came up to bat and ripped a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning.
Hibbing rapped out 15 hits for the afternoon.
Hoyt Wilhelm(4-5) was the winner allowing 1 run in 3 and 1/3 innings. Ron
Perranoski earned his 2nd save. Jim Donohue(0-5) took the loss in relief.
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Jeff Meleras sighed. 'That win feels like a tall,
cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert lately.'
