Johnny Mize ripped 3 homeruns and had 7 RBI as the Providence Red Pandas beat
the Bristol Blasters by a score of 8 to 2.
Mize enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He lifted one out of the park
for a two run home run in the 2nd inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the
5th inning and cracked a two-run shot in the 7th inning. Providence had 9
hits for the afternoon.
James Cohen(3-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 1
run. The losing pitcher was Mel Parnell(5-5). Providence now has a record of
19-15. With the loss, the Bristol ballclub's record is 14-20.
