Catcher Joe Torre jacked one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI as the
Minnesota Loons outscored the Pittsburgh Bichipoos 10 to 3.
Torre provided the offensive punch. He lined a single scoring two baserunners
in the 1st inning, hit a one-base hit in the 5th inning and blasted a two-run
home run in the 7th inning. Minnesota rapped out 11 hits for the night.
Jim Kaat(4-4) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Bob
Anderson(1-4) was the loser. He got hit hard, allowing 10 hits and 3 walks
in 7 innings.
'Ahhh, how sweet it is,' Minnesota's manager sighed. 'That win feels like a
tall, cool drink of water after spending far too much time in the desert
lately.'
