Joe Coleman pitched a complete game as the Las Vegas Stars outscored the
Detroit Polecats 8 to 3.
Detroit never recovered after Las Vegas took the lead in the 3rd inning as
they scored 2 runs on 1 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by
Ed Kranepool who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he blasted a
two-run home run. Las Vegas kept the pressure on throughout the contest as
they scored in 6 different innings.
Coleman(1-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 3 runs. Andy
Messersmith(4-4) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving
up 9 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
