One run was the difference at RI Field (The Bowl) as the New Jersey Jackals
tallied 4 runs in the 3rd inning and defeated the Bristol Blasters 5 to
4.
New Jersey scored 4 runs in the decisive top of the 3rd inning. The highlight
belonged to Dusty Baker who silenced RI Field (The Bowl) as he quieted the
crowd by clouting a Grand Slam. Bristol threatened in the 9th but New Jersey
was able to put down the rally.
Jim Colborn(3-1) picked up the victory, allowing 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings.
Colborn got help from Dick Bosman who was credited with his 1st save. Jerry
Reuss(4-4) ended up with the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 7 hits in 7
innings.
Despite losing Bristol's manager was optimistic after the game. 'We'll get
over this one. Sometimes the breaks fall your way, sometimes they don't.
Any one of a dozen little things go different, and we come out on top.'
