One run was the difference at Windblown Stadium as the Colorado 14ers defeated
the Sterling Silver Sluggers 6 to 5.
In the top of the 4th inning Colorado went on top for good plating an isolated
run using 2 hits. Bill Spiers doubled. Two outs later Otis Nixon stepped up
to the plate and he stroked a single scoring the run. Sterling had a chance
to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Curt Schilling(2-4) allowed 4 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory.
Doug Jones recorded the save, his 8th. Scott Kamieniecki(2-3) was charged
with the loss.
Connie Mack was in a sour mood after the game. 'Even you guys up in the press
box know why we lost this game. We made too many mistakes.'
