First baseman Gil Hodges cracked 2 homeruns at Blaster Field where the Bristol
Blasters beat the Pinch Quicks 3 to 2.
Pinch was unable to recover after Bristol went ahead in the bottom of the 4th
inning plating one baserunner using 3 hits. Pinch tried unsuccessfully to
come back in the 9th.
The victory was credited to Groundhog Thompson(5-6) who went 8 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Thompson got relief help from Joe Page who gained credit for
his 12th save. Ted Gray(3-2) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 7 innings
giving up only 5 hits and no walks.
Steve Sustakowski was in a talkative mood in the clubhouse, 'Great game! If
only we could win all of the close ones - wouldn't that be nice! Since that's
not going to happen, I think I'll savor this one for a little while.'
