In a thriling finish the Denver Dingers pulled off the win over the Savannah
Rumrunners by a score of 4 to 3 at Mile High Stadium.
The game was won by Denver with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Butch
McCord drew a walk. Art Hefner stepped up to the plate and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. After another out, Piper Davis then drew a walk. Buzz
Clarkson stepped in and he doubled making Denver the winners and sending the
24,340 fans home happy. Denver had 9 hits overall, while Savannah had 5.
Potato Piloto(3-1) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Steve
Gromek(8-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 2 hits and 2 walks
in 1 and 2/3 innings.
