Mark McGwire slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI at Qualcomm Stadium as the Denver
Dingers beat the Savannah Rumrunners 4 to 3.
Denver scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning when they had 4 base
hits. The key offensive moment was provided by McGwire who came through for
the home fans when he smashed a two-run homer. Denver rapped out 9 hits for
the night.
The victory was credited to Chuck Finley(3-4) who went 7 innings, allowing 1
run. Finley got relief help from John Wetteland who gained credit for his
17th save. Mark Gardner(3-3) was tagged with the loss. He allowed a few too
many baserunners giving up 7 hits and 5 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
