Smith enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He doubled scoring a run in the 1st
inning, lashed a single in the 4th inning, slapped a one-base hit in the 5th
inning, stroked a base-hit in the 7th inning and cleared the fences for a
two-run home run in the 9th inning. Zygton had 10 hits for the game and
Minnesota had 5.
Ron Reed(12-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing 1
run. Reed was helped out by Steve Kline who recorded his 2nd save. Andy
Hassler(7-5) was the loser. He allowed 2 runs and 7 hits in 7 and 1/3
innings.
