WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Tom Murphy robbed Jim Northrup of a base hit.
In a great finish the The Little Feat came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the Hibbing Dylans by a score of 6 to 5 at Parc
Jarry.
The Little had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 3 hits. Tim
Johnson opened up the inning nicely when he lashed a single. Enzo Hernandez
stepped up next and he ripped a one-base hit. Willie Montanez then drew a
walk to load the bases. After an out was recorded, Jim Northrup stepped up
to the plate and he would ground out which scored a run. Richie Zisk came to
the plate and stroked a base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. The
Little had a total of 9 hits for the game.
Woodie Fryman(3-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Pedro
Borbon earned the save, his 21st. Tom Murphy(6-5) was given the loss in
relief.
After the game, it took a long while before Jeff Meleras emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood this
afternoon, as I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a
lot more light-hearted over in the The Little locker room.'
