TEAM RISP- Quicks: 3 for 15 Dylans: 8 for 13
Bud Souchock slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Pinch Quicks came back to
win one over Hibbing Dylans, 14 to 13.
Pinch erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning when they tallied 4
runs on 2 hits. The key at-bat was by Ted Williams who silenced Rolling
Thunder Park as he rifled a three-run blast. This was the kind of game that
many fans love as the lead changed hands 7 times.
Verdell Mathis(3-5) was the winner allowing 1 run in 2 and 2/3 innings.
Martiniano Garay earned the save, his 3rd. Bob Rush(2-2) suffered the loss
in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning and surrendered 1 hit and no
walks.
Jeff Meleras was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us this afternoon'
