In a game for the baseball purist, Ted Bowsfield(9-1) and Warren Spahn(2-12)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Queen Qiller Bees finally emerged
victorious over Sugarland Skeeters, 3 to 1.
Queen had 2 runs cross the plate in the top of the 5th inning. After an out
was recorded, Mickey Mantle got things going when he drew a walk. Jerry
Lynch stepped up next and he slapped a single. Don Hoak then ripped a
base-hit, and an error was also committed, scoring two teammates. Queen
finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
Bowsfield got help from Roy Face who was credited with his 12th save.
