At The Rum Cellar Bob Stanley(2-3) got the win and the Bristol Blasters
shutout the Savannah Rumrunners in 11 innings 3 to 0.

The run-column was full of goose eggs at the end of nine full innings.
Bristol won the hard fought contest in the 11th inning. Manny Sanguillen led
off and he doubled. After an out was recorded, Claudell Washington came up
and he ripped a one-base hit scoring a run. Washington took second on the
throw. Amos Otis then laced a single plating one more runner. Tito Fuentes
followed next and he slapped a single. Mike Schmidt struck out, unable to
help the rally. Eddie Murray added to the uprising and laced a base-knock
scoring the final run of the inning. Bristol had 12 hits for the afternoon
while Savannah had 9.

Rollie Fingers earned the save, his 12th. Doug Bird(1-7) took the loss in
relief. For Bristol the victory was a welcome one, indeed. They had been
struggling in their last ten games with a disappointing 2-8 record. Savannah
continued their losing ways and their record is now 49-54. They are 2-8 in
their last ten games.
