Kent Mercker went 8 strong innings at The Couch where the Pittsburgh Bichipoos
beat the Minnesota Loons 7 to 1.
Bob Higginson provided much of the offense. He doubled plating two runs in
the 2nd inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 6th inning and banged out a
single in the 7th inning. Pittsburgh had 11 hits for the night while
Minnesota had 3.
The win was credited to Mercker(8-1) who went 8 innings allowing 1 run. Ramon
Garcia(5-5) was the losing pitcher. He got hammered, allowing 8 hits and 4
walks in 5 innings.
Wth the win Pittsburgh now has a record of 46-45. Minnesota continued their
