Ellis Burks hit 2 doubles and had 3 RBI as the Denver Dingers bested the
Sterling Silver Sluggers in 10 innings 8 to 7 at Qualcomm Stadium.
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings. Denver won the hard
fought contest in the 10th inning. Brian S. Giles laced a one-base hit.
After an out was recorded, Burks stepped in and he doubled resulting in an
exciting win for Denver and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town
fans. Denver rapped out 12 hits for the afternoon.
Marc Wilkins(5-1) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Mike
Timlin(5-7) was the loser in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up
3 hits and 1 walk.
Denver now has a record of 61-50. With this loss, Sterling has a 6-4 record
of late, 62-48 overall.
