Catcher Sherm Lollar had 3 base hits and 3 RBI as the Tenth Avenue Freezeouts
defeated the Denver Dingers in 10 innings by a score of 8 to 5 at Mile High
Stadium.
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. Tenth Avenue came
out the victor in the 10th inning. Lou Boudreau led off and he drew a walk.
Al Zarilla next to the plate and he drew a walk. After an out was recorded,
Lollar then ripped a base-knock to load the bases. Richie Ashburn followed
and he slapped a base-hit which was good for two runs. After another out,
Wally Moses stepped in and he stroked a one-base hit scoring the final run of
the inning. Tenth Avenue had 12 hits for the game and Denver had 8.
Apple Wilmore(1-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Jim Konstanty got the save, his 6th. Dizzy Trout(2-8) took the loss
in relief.
