In a one-sided affiar at The Rum Cellar the final score was the Savannah
Rumrunners 8, the Providence Red Pandas 2.
Providence surrendered all of the runs Savannah needed in the 7th inning as
they ripped Providence for 8 runs on 5 hits. The highlight belonged to Bobby
Thomson who elicited a roar from the hometown fans when he lined a one-base
hit scoring two baserunners. Providence was out-hit by Savannah, 11 hits to
8.
The victory went to Steve Gromek(12-4) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Cliff Chambers(9-5) was the loser. He allowed 7 hits and 2 walks in 6
and 1/3 innings.
