Bill Bonham(12-7) and Jim Palmer(3-8) treated the Las Vegas fans to a fine
pitching duel at Shea Stadium. The Pittsburgh Bichipoos eventually emerged
as victors over the pathetic Las Vegas Stars by the score of 4 to
0.
Pittsburgh took the lead for good in the 3rd inning scoring a single run.
After an out was recorded, Bill North laced a base-knock. North was running
on the next pitch and he stole second. Pittsburgh continued their aggressive
style with another stolen base. Ralph Garr was up next and he hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the run. That scoring would be all that was needed.
Pittsburgh had 13 hits overall, while Las Vegas had 7.
The Pittsburgh ballclub's record now stands at 59-50. Las Vegas has a record
of 42-69, worst in the division after the loss.
