Carl Yastrzemski had 2 base hits at Crosley Field where the Sugarland Skeeters
beat the Galifrey Time Lords 6 to 5.
Sugarland had 5 runs cross the plate in the 3rd inning when they had 3 base
hits. The big moment was provided by Danny O'Connell who quieted the home
crowd when he doubled plating two runs. Galifrey made it exciting in the
9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The victory went to Warren Spahn(7-16) who went 7 and 1/3 innings, allowing 5
runs. Spahn got relief help from Chet Nichols who gained credit for his 3rd
save. Ron Kline(6-11) was the losing pitcher. He allowed 6 runs and 4 hits
in 6 innings.
Galifrey's manager was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this
kind of loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals.
We've been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be
fine - as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
