Howie Pollet completed the game without help from the bullpen at The Looney
Bin as the Minnesota Loons won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the
Savannah Rumrunners by the count of 4 to 3.
Minnesota erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs
on 4 hits. Bob Harvey got things going when he laced a base-knock. Norman
Robinson stepped into the batter's box and he ripped a base-knock. Red
Schoendienst then hit a single to load the bases. Johnny Lipon followed and
he slapped a one-base hit giving Minnesota the win and sending the home town
fans into a frenzy. Minnesota finished with 9 hits in the victory.
The win went to Pollet(9-10) who allowed 3 runs in the game. Leon Day(2-6) was
the loser in relief. Chris Kaufman was in great spirits in his post-game
interview. Yet, when asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback
victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my
counterpart, Blackbeard Teach, feels right now - and it's not very good.
It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'
