Bud Stewart had 4 hits and 2 RBI at The Couch where the Savannah Rumrunners
beat the Pittsburgh Bichipoos by the score of 10 to 2.
Savannah set the tone of the game in the first inning scoring 3 runs using 2
hits. Cass Michaels opened up the inning nicely when he drew a walk.
Stewart next to the plate and he slapped a base-hit. Stan Musial then belted
a three-run homer. The early run support proved sufficient for Samuel
Williams(11-10) and Savannah. That was all the run support Williams
required. Savannah finished with 14 hits while Pittsburgh ended up with 5.
The losing pitcher was Tommy Byrne(9-9). Wth the win Savannah now has a
record of a division leading 81-62. With the loss, Pittsburgh has a record
of 5-5 lately, 73-63 overall.
