They almost ran out of baseballs at The Wastelands as Mid-World Bumblers
clobbered the Savannah Rumrunners pitching staff, scoring 22 runs while Tommy
John(15-9), with relief help from Donnie Moore, allowed Savannah 4
runs.
Larry Hisle was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He doubled
knocking in a run in the 1st inning, lost the ball over the fence for three
runs in the 5th inning and doubled in the 8th inning. Mid-World kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 3rd inning which saw them plate 7 runs on 3 hits,
the 5th inning with 4 runs and the 7th inning which saw them score 4 runs on
4 hits. Mid-World dominated offensively as they scored in 6 different
innings.
Moore earned his 4th save. Nolan Ryan(13-14) was the losing pitcher. He had
trouble throwing strikes and issued 8 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
