Enos Cabell had 3 base hits as the Savannah Rumrunners outscored the Mid-World
Bumblers 7 to 4.
Savannah had 3 runs cross the plate in the top of the 3rd inning when they
came up with 5 base hits. The big moment was provided by George Brett who
silenced The Wastelands as he smashed a two-run homer. Savannah ended up
with 16 hits for the game while Mid-World had 6.
Phil Niekro(16-7) went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory.
Sparky Lyle recorded his 4th save. Jim Rooker(10-11) ended up with the loss.
The win by Savannah is a very welcome one as they have been struggling in
recent days. Their record now stands at 65-73 - only 2-8 in their last ten
games. Still in a bad slump, with this loss, Mid-World is 2-8 lately and
80-58 on the year.
