Dan Meyer connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Towanda Black
Knights rallied impressively to win in dramatic style over The Little Feat, 9
to 7.
Towanda had the winning rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs utilizing 4
base hits. Fred Lynn opened up the inning nicely when he doubled. After an
out was recorded, Carlton Fisk came to the plate and reached on an error.
Ken Reitz then laced a base-hit knocking in a run. Meyer dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out. Frank Taveras came up to bat and ripped
a one-base hit bringing in another run. Denny Doyle did his part to keep
things going and singled scoring the final run of the inning. Towanda
totaled 13 hits on the afternoon.
Paul Hartzell(7-9) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Bill
Campbell(7-5) ended up with the loss in relief. Wth the win Towanda now has
a record of 69-83. The Little continued their losing ways and their record
is now 71-71. They are 1-9 in their last ten games.
