Bob Lemon shut down the Tenth Avenue batters on just 3 hits and third baseman
Sid Gordon had 4 hits and 4 RBI at Wrigley Field as the St Paul Saints beat
the Tenth Avenue Freezeouts by the count of 8 to 0.
Gordon provided much of the offense. He stroked a base-hit resulting in a run
in the 1st inning, doubled which plated a run in the 3rd inning, laced a
single in the 5th inning and delivered a one-base hit bringing home two
baserunners in the 7th inning. St Paul finished with 12 hits in the victory.
For Lemon(23-11) it was his 3rd shutout this year. Bill Wight(10-13) was hit
with the loss. St Paul knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 6
and 1/3 innings.
'He came out with good stuff,' Mark Resenbrink said about Lemon. 'He threw the
ball good from the first pitch on.'
