Lou Gehrig had 3 base hits as the Iowa MoonlightGraham defeated the Minnesota
Loons by a score of 3 to 2 at The Cornfield.
Iowa went ahead for good in the bottom of the 6th inning plating one
baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. After an out was recorded, Johnny Gooch
doubled. Charlie Jamieson was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Frank
O'Rourke then delivered a base-hit scoring the run. Minnesota threatened in
the 9th but Iowa was able to put down the rally.
The victory went to Jumbo Elliott(8-8) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Jing Johnson preserved the game for Elliott, recording his his 12th
save. The losing pitcher was Dazzy Vance(10-20) in relief. He gave up 3
hits and no walks in 3 innings.
