TEAM RISP- Rumrunners: 0 for 4 Timber: 1 for 4
With the hometown crowd on the edge of their seats, Michigan Timber came from
behind to top Savannah Rumrunners, 4 to 2.
Michigan came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3
runs using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Dave Hansen started the rally
when he drew a walk. Rafael Palmeiro stepped up next and he smacked a
single. Eric Karros then lofted a three-run 'big-fly' giving Michigan the
victory and sending the 51,195 home-town fans home happy. The teams had been
locked in a scoreless duel until the 6th inning.
Julian Tavarez(5-6) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Jeff
Shaw(5-7) ended up with the loss in relief. 'Now there is a lesson in
perseverance for you,' Larry Walker noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there
for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades!
And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
