At The Cornfield, the Iowa fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Guy
Bush(12-7) finally bested his Bumpass opposite, Red Ryan(12-8), by the score
of 3 to 1.
In the 3rd inning Iowa went on top for good scoring one runner. Bush drew a
walk. One out later, Lou Gehrig got his turn next, but he was a strikeout
victim. Freddie Lindstrom then doubled scoring the run. Bumpass threatened
in the 9th but Iowa was able to put down the rally.
Bush got help from Rube Ehrhardt who was credited with his 5th save. Ryan
took the loss. He allowed 7 hits and 5 walks in 7 innings.
